General inspection

Legislator and insurances are worried about the safety of German climbing halls and demand regular safety checkups.

In our general inspection your climbing facility is checked after strictly defined criteria. Climbing facilities should only be opened to the public if they have a valid inspection-badge. The person in charge of a climbing wall with belaying points has to have a general inspection taken out every 12 to 24 months – depending on the type of the wall.

If your climbing facility is fit for operating business, a inspection-badge is fixed to the type plate which contains all needed information accordant to DIN EN 12572, as apparent sign of the passed inspection. The badge shows month and year of the next required general inspection.

Why at all maintenance of climbing facilities?

Like all sports equipment and sports facilities, climbing halls and the used equipment are subject to a certain grade of wearout and have to be checked for safety in regular intervals.

The respective insurer can give details, for example the statutory accident insurance in public domain. This insurance specifies, that equipment and devices in sports halls have to be checked in appropriate intervals upon their safe condition. (GUV 26.1).

Apart from the climbing wall itself and lifesaving belaying points and anchors, the complete belaying- equipment like ropes, harnesses, karabiner etc. have to undergo a regular check and maintenance.
